Visage 5.1.1 release notes
In addition to the big major-version changes mentioned in the migration document, Visage 5.1.1 also includes a number of visual updates and feature improvements:
New features
- Breadcrumbs: new visual styling
- Background Color: an expanded list of possible background colors, with 20 new color choices
- Callout:
- new "new" skin, for callouts that say “NEW”
- new visual styling for all skins
- Carousel:
- support for aligning dots to the left
- support for "tight" grid gutters
- new visual styling
- Collapsible: the React version now supports different open/closed text
- Dark Mode: a new global prop that turns text white, and makes components visible on dark backgrounds. (Replaces the now-deprecated "dark" theme.)
- Grid: the React version now supports sticky columns
- Modal Dialog: the ModalDialogCloseButton element now supports a visuallyHiddenText prop, for easier accessibility support
- Preloader Graphic: the spinning animation begins immediately, rather than after a delay
- Range: new visual styling
- Ratings Stars:
- you can specify just one star instead of five
- new visual styling
- Selection Set:
- added new "tiles" skins, one horizontal and one vertical
- new visual styling for "buttons" skin
- Standard Banner: a new, flexible component to support a variety of mid-page banners!
- Standard Hero:
- support for multiple Textbuttons
- Hero With Left Nav now supports text and images sitting side-by-side (not just full-width - images with text overlaid on top)
- support for a new "eyebrow" element over the hero heading
- the "narrow" banner option is now deprecated in favor of the new Standard Banner component

- Standard Tile:
- new "circular" skin
- the "gallery" skin now supports a translucent background
- the default skin now places a light grey background behind the image, so the image can use transparency
- new visual styling for all skins
- Table: the React version now supports table captions
- Textbutton: a new "design-path" variant with two lines of text
- Text Input: the focus color was changed from blue to black
- Themes: the "dark" theme is now deprecated in favor of the easier-to-use "dark mode" feature
- Typography: you can now explicitly set a text color of black
Bug fixes
- Color Swatches: inside a Selection Set, borders are now correct on two-tone swatches
- Listbox: new visual styling for hover/focus state, so that options no longer look disabled on hover
- Modal Dialog: "panel" dialogs no longer have the scrollbar up against (or overlapping) the content
- Selection Set: focus state is now visually different from selected state
- Textbutton: custom icons now have no CSS filter
Dropped support
As noted in the migration document, Visage 5 has dropped some React components and some CSS support for features that were deprecated in Visage 4. Check out that migration document for the full list.
